One Greater Manchester side has an amateur vets team with nine former Premier League footballers in their current squad.

222 Top Division Goals, 325 International Appearances

The team Vets Over-35s are located in southern Manchester and compete in the Cheshire Vets League Premier Tier.

The lineup this campaign features nine former top-flight footballers, with a combined 1,801 Premier League games.

This high-profile roster also boasts 222 top division goals and over 320 international caps.

The squad feature one forward, who notched thirty-seven goals in 117 games for his former club after moving to them for nine million pounds from German league side SC Freiburg in January 2012.

Stephen Ireland began playing for the team in pre-season this season through close mate and current Wythenshawe player Blake Norton, and the former Republic of Ireland midfielder then invited other ex-pros, who all play in a weekly small-sided game, to join in.

Former Senegal striker Niasse, who scored 12 scores in 65 Premier League games for Everton and even now attends their matches at Goodison Park, also had his first appearance versus the opposition - who are located in Liverpool and wear an Blue warm-up gear as their strip.

"Then he informed me we were playing a team from the city and the shock I had when I noticed them wearing Everton shirts - I thought this is strange for me!

"The fans who come and see are pleased and to make a moment if they see us playing there and to ask us queries - it's more like the pleasure of us having a place we can play, with structure of course."

So great is the strength in depth at Wythenshawe, Niasse made his debut at full-back.

"That's a little different but then, I enjoy running and just move inside - I'm not defending that much," he said.

"I tell my defender 'I'm not staying' and that I'm just going to continue running.

"The running is what I'm after. It's enjoyable."

'Surreal Feeling

Along with Cisse's 6 scores on debut, Stephen Ireland has netted eight in 3 appearances for the side, while Boyd scored five on his debut appearance and Joleon Lescott, a centre-half by position, scored a hat-trick in one match as a striker.

The team are leading of the Premier Division with three wins from three and a GD of +19.

One opponent, thirty-eight, who plays on the flank for Collegiate OB, faced former Wigan full-back Maynor Figueroa on the weekend - and had to explain his nine-year-old son who Heskey was.

"Our group literally haven't ceased talking about it - I was calling my mother and brother on the way home.

"They were all friendly, shaking our hands after the match - it was like facing a bunch of normal guys.
