Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one titles have been won on hardcourt

A comeback Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial championship for nearly 30 months with a win over Corentin Moutet in the competition title decider.

The Russian, a ex- world number one, has experienced a torrid season, winning just one win at the big events and suffering a setback at the American major.

His inconsistency on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serving in specific - resulted in him exiting of the world's top 10 and finally splitting with long-time trainer Cervara.

Currently working with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually progressed in the past month - culminating in a hard-fought three-set win over opponent Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's first title since the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard surface from spring of the previous year.

The win also indicates Medvedev has achieved twenty-one victories at twenty-one various tournaments.

"It's the first time I am participating in a tournament with my children at once, so to secure a title is especially meaningful," commented world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my second daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I achieved when my first daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had been defeated in his previous six title deciders, featuring in Halle previously this season.

The player's counter-punching approach and recurring outbursts on the playing surface had caused commentators to wonder if his skill to play at the highest level was finished.

Yet the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the past month, attempting to approach the net and play positively, backed up by an better serve.

The champion fought back from a break down in the first set against the tricky opponent, securing 4 of the final five games to gain the advantage.

The pair exchanged breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, striving for his maiden tour championship, took control to force a third set.

He saved four initial chances in a tight deciding set before Medvedev won the break to that score to serve for the match.

Suitably, he secured victory with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman failing to handle a volley after over two and a half hours.
