Two Detentions Following London Heathrow Irritant Spray Attack

The assault caused the partial closure of the CTA tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park.

Two more people are now in custody in connection with a theft at Heathrow Airport where 21 people were injured by what is thought to be an irritant spray, as stated by law enforcement.

A man, 24, was arrested in Lambeth on suspicion of theft and assault and a 23-year-old woman was detained for suspected conspiring to commit a robbery. Both individuals remain in custody, the force said.

These detentions follow an investigation into an attack at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Prior to the attack, two women had stolen from them their suitcases after getting out of a car park lift.

A three-year-old girl was one of the injured during the incident. Five people went to hospital for medical care and were later released.

Officers detained a man in his thirties on suspicion of robbery and assault near the scene. He was subsequently released under investigation while inquiries continue.

Police were called at about 8:10 in the morning GMT after reports came in regarding a number of people injured by a noxious substance believed to be pepper spray.

The attack - an event that police said was a standalone incident and not considered terrorism - caused train delays and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking facility for a short time.
